DESCRIPTION:Full Course both days - Refresher is day two for two day course
!\nPre-requisite for refresher: Current Heart and Stroke BLS HCP CPR withi
n last 12 months and Current ACLS Provider certification. BOTH must be sub
mitted with application form IF TAKING THE REFRESHER.\nFor Full course pa
rticipants ONLY BLS HCP is included in the course design. Your confirmatio
n letter will explain when that course is available to you!\nThe Advanced
Cardiovascular Life Support course is totally redesigned for health careÂ
providers who either direct or participate in the resuscitation of a pati
ent\, whether in or out of hospital.  Through the ACLS course\, providers
will enhance their skills in the treatment of the adult victim of a cardi
ac arrest or other cardiopulmonary emergencies.  ACLS emphasizes the impo
rtance of basic life support CPR to patient survival\; the integration of
effective basic life support with advanced cardiovascular life support int
erventions\; and the importance of effective team interaction and communic
ation during resuscitation. \nACLS is based on simulated clinical scenari
os that encourage active\, hands-on participation through learning station
s where students will practice essential skills individually\, as part of
a team\, and as team leader.  Realistic simulations reinforce the followi
ng key concepts:  proficiency in basic life support care\; recognizing an
d initiating early management of pre-arrest conditions\; managing cardiac
arrest\; identifying and treating ischemic chest pain and acute coronary s
yndromes\; recognizing other life-threatening clinical situations (such as
stroke) and providing initial care\; ACLS algorithms\; and effective resu
scitation team dynamics.\nIntended AudienceThe course is designed for medi
cal providers such as physicians\, nurses\, emergency medical technicians\
, paramedics\, respiratory therapists\, and other professionals who may re
 spond to a cardiovascular emergency.
